- The Greek name for Heart is Cardia, from which we have the adjective Cardiac.
- The Latin name for Heart is cor, from which we have the adjective coronary.

The heart is present beneath the sternum (breast bone or middle bone), behind the thoracic cavity, between second and fifth rip.

- Function:
The Human Heart functions as a double pump.
It's main function is to pump the blood towards the lungs as part of the pulmonary circulation
and to the whole body for the exchange of materials as part of te systematic circulation.
